Doonbeg golf links course is a fine place to observe some exciting golf action. Visitors are welcomed by almost 1.5 miles of beach and sand dunes. The breathtaking view of the sea visible from the green and the fairway has an enchanting effect on the golfers. This marvellous golf course has been designed by Greg Normans with style being one of its most important attributes. This course is not easy by any stretch of the imagination and you will either come to love it or hate it. The 15th hole is regarded as the highlight of this course. Not only is Doonbeg a fantastic golf course but it also boasts a five star hotel and spa, a perfect way to end the day after playing this magnificent course.
“This is a course I want to be identified with, one I will be able to say with pride — ‘ I did that one.’ I am the luckiest designer in the world . . . because of the uniqueness of the site.” Greg Norman

Hi , Doonbegs rating of # two my friends is a farce !
The club house & facilities are exceptional but the course !! The first four holes are an excellent test of golf. The course turns right to avoid some snail preservation area which is fenced off with barbed wire ! Did the other guys see this ?? The scenery for the next eight holes is NON EXISTANT ! Not worth the money ! Paul Ryan H/ cap 6
I dont’t agree Paul. I played Doonbeg with my friends last week. We had waited for two years until the entire group was free to enjoy the experience together. We were gob smacked. The course is in beautiful condition. The staff was superb, excellent caddies both knowledgeable and sincere. The staff on arrival could not have been more helpful. We played several of the must play courses in the south west area and for us Doonbeg was the highlight of our trip. If we had not of lost the light we would have played another 18. An overall unique and spectacular experience. Thank you to all for making our trip one to cherish for ever.
A real tough test of golf particularly if the wind is blowing. Played at the end of May so we were lucky with the weather. Some really challenging holes, particularly those most exposed to the coast. Expensive to play but certainly worth playing once for the experience. Greens/fairways etc are in top class order as would be expected. Clubhouse & facilities are 5 star.
The course, in general is magnificent. 2 greens are a bit silly, the 18th has a big hump causing all balls to fall in the same area and the one with the bunker in the middle is plain nuts. Food is a rip off and staff are snotty.
one word…incredible!!!
Wow, never played here but by judging by the pictures it looks truly amazing. Anyone know where I can buy these images framed. Would make a great gift!
Hi Paul. Thanks for dropping by. It is something a few people have asked us before. We have the original copies of many of these images. As long as we have permission from Donnbeg to supply you with these e will do so. Email us at info@ratemycourse.ie with your details.
